Humberto Ken Kitadai, MD PhD, attended Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC – SP) for Medical School. In 1984, right after residency at the Hospital Anchieta SA, under Manlio M. Marco Napoli MD PhD tutelage, he became a Research Fellow with Dr. G. Dean Mac Ewen MD PhD in pediatric orthopedics at the renowned Alfred I Dupont Institute, USA. Also took part in fellowships in Canada (The Hospital for Sick Children – University of Toronto, Robert B. Salter, MD PhD), and in France (Institute Calot, Christian Morin, MD).
Upon the return to Brazil in 1986 a specialist title from the Brazilian Society of orthopedics and Traumatology (SBOT) was awarded. In 1988 Dr Kitadai performed a Surgical Fellowship at the University of Kyushu, Japan under Prof. Yoichi Sugioka, MD PhD.
During these fellowships Dr Kitadai developed and presented experimental researches in child hip disorders.
From 1990 through 2001 he was an Adjunct Faculty at the Santo Amaro School of Medicine (UNISA), and taught Orthopedics and Traumatology.
In 1994 Dr Kitadai earned the title of Master in orthopedics and Traumatology from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), with a published and cited thesis on "Wiberg's center-edge angle in patients with slipped capital femoral epiphysis".
In 2002 he presented his thesis for a doctoral program and earned his PhD in Orthopedics and Traumatology from UNIFESP.
In 2007 Dr Kitadai became a reviewer for Clinical orthopedics and Related Research.
In 2012 he received the title of Specialist in Medical Foresincs throught the Brazilian Association of Legal Medicine and Forensics Medicine (ABMLPM).

The Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Kitadai Clinic was first established in Santo Amaro, in 1957, at first on Isabel Schmidt St., and then moved in 1969 to Dr. Antônio Bento St., to house surgical theaters and other improved facilities. Then in 2005 the Clinic moved to its final location in a neighboring suburb, Chácara Santo Antônio, having Dr. Humberto K. Kitadai as the acting surgeon.
Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Kitadai was born in August 5th, 1923 in Kochi, Japan, immigrating to Brazil in 1929. He graduated in 1955 at the School of Medicine of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Then in 1986 he earned a master's degree in Orthopedics and Traumatology from the University of São Paulo (USP), and, finally, a doctoral degree in 1989 from the same university.
Prof. Dr. Kitadai was one of the founders of the School of Medicine of Santo Amaro, and served as Professor of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. Academic and professional endeavors ceased in 1992, after suffering from a cerebral aneurism rupture, and unfortunately passed away in 2009, at the age of 86.
The Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Kitadai Clinic still holds patient charts from approximately 150 thousand patients.
